Initiation Technology™: Symphony PLUS technology used soon after birth can significantly increase breast milk production. The INITIATE program contains a mixture of stimulation phases, an expression phase and a pause phase that mimic healthy infant feeding behaviours. 

2-Phase Expression® technology: Can be used by all mothers to help build and maintain milk production. MAINTAIN program can be used to build upon initiation and maintain their milk production. 

Convenient: Single or double pumping. 

Two separate, independent membrane units: Allows switching between single and double pumping by simply applying or removing the second collection kit to the breast.

Let-down button: Moms can easily return to stimulation by pressing the let-down button.

Initiate and maintain milk supply: If direct breastfeeding is not possible, as well as collect breast milk at work or during other absences from the baby. 

This schedule applies in relation to Equipment that is a Medela breast pump.
Important safety information – using breast pumps safely.

1. You must follow the following requirements when using the Medela breast pump:
2. Clean all reusable parts that come in contact with the breast and breast milk prior to first use.
3. Clean parts that come in contact with the breast and breast milk immediately after use.
4. The pump sets are personal care items intended for use by a single user only.
5. Do not continue pumping for more than two consecutive pumping sessions if no results are achieved.
6. If problems or pain occur, consult a lactation specialist or your medical practitioner.
7. Never use the pump during pregnancy, unless prescribed/advised by a physician, as pumping can induce labour.
8. Never use a device, components or parts that are damaged.
9. Never use a device, components or parts if dirt, mould or other contamination is visible.
10. Replace mouldy, damaged or worn parts.
11. There are no user-serviceable parts inside the Medela Symphony pump unit. Repairs must be performed only by an authorised service agency. Do not repair the parts yourself!
12. No modifications to the device are permitted.
13. Use the Medela Symphony breast pump only for its intended use as described in the manual.
14. Use only original Medela accessories. Do not use attachments not recommended by Medela, as this may cause hazards.
15. Do not modify any parts of the pump or the pump set.
16. Do not use the Medela Symphony breast pump while sleeping or overly drowsy.
17. Do not use the Medela Symphony breast pump while operating a motor vehicle.
18. Do not drive while using hands-free pumping.
19. Never drop or insert any object into any opening or tubing.
20. Do not use the pump outdoors.
21. Supervision is necessary when the Medela Symphony breast pump is used in the vicinity of children.
22. Radio frequency communications equipment such as wireless home network devices, mobile phones, cordless telephones and their base stations as well as walkie-talkies can affect the Medela Symphony breast pump.
23. Due to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), a distance of at least one meter between the Medela Symphony breast pump and the wireless equipment is recommended.

Fees and charges – Important information

Pumps can be extended on request – by emailing or calling the office which the pump was originally hired before the hire expires.
If no contact has been made to the branch about the hire – the contract will be automatically extended for the same original period
Refunds do not apply to hire contracts and are not pro rata
